Re: “The pragmatist’s guide to nuclear disarmament” [Feb. 11, Opinion]:
Thanks for working Steve Olson’s piece arguing for a grassroots anti-nuclear motion. In truth, a worldwide grassroots marketing campaign already exists and has superior the reason for nuclear disarmament by selling the creation and ratification of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which Olson discusses.
That motion is the Worldwide Marketing campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons and its web site, icanw.org, contains many sources for these excited about becoming a member of the disarmament motion right here within the Pacific Northwest or wherever within the U.S. Many of the organizations Olson mentions in his op-ed are ICAN companions and plenty of others have joined a brand new marketing campaign, Warheads to Windmills, that goals to flip the cash now spent on nuclear weapons to selling sustainable power infrastructure on this nation (warheadstowindmills.org).
The SANE/Freeze motion within the Eighties sparked the deepest reductions ever in nuclear weapons. A brand new motion can revitalize nuclear disarmament and free humanity from this existential risk whereas liberating up funds for human wants.
