A Hesperia man who was touring on foot survived being struck by two autos in separate collisions Thursday morning however was then fatally shot by San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies after he pulled a knife on them, authorities stated.

Nicholas Robert Contreras, 32, was first struck by a automobile on the intersection of Mariposa Street and Locust Avenue in Victorville, based on a sheriff’s spokesperson.

Contreras picked himself up and continued strolling earlier than he was struck by a second automobile close to a gasoline station a few quarter-mile away, authorities stated.

Sheriff’s deputies responding to emergency calls arrived on the scene shortly earlier than 10 a.m., authorities stated.

Neither of the 2 collisions “was exhausting sufficient to incapacitate or disable” Contreras, stated sheriff’s spokesperson Gloria Huerta.

As deputies approached Contreras, they found he was carrying a knife, authorities stated.

Contreras refused deputies’ instructions to drop the knife, and when he superior on them the deputies opened hearth on him, authorities stated. He was pronounced useless on the scene.

The division’s Specialised Investigation Division is dealing with the investigation.
