The chief government of South West Water has stated she is sorry for an outbreak of cryptosporidium in south Devon.

The UK Well being Safety Company (UKHSA) confirmed 22 cases of cryptosporidium, a waterborne illness attributable to a microscopic parasite, in Brixham on Wednesday.

South West Water stated it believed it had situated the supply the place the parasite might have entered the water community.

Susan Davy stated: “Our floor technicians have been working across the clock to establish the supply of the contamination and rectify the scenario so we will resume a standard water provide. To these within the affected space and our clients throughout the South West, I’m actually sorry for the disruption and wider anxiousness this has brought about.
